News: Find out more about Dorothy Dyer, author of Reading the Wind

Who or what inspired you to write this book? I love reading, and I guess I was inspired by all the brilliant YA fiction I have read, historical and other. And I wanted to see if I could write myself. I dedicated the book to my sons because I want them to enjoy reading like I do, and also to my mother, who although she died many years ago, had a profound influence on my life. She was the one who taught me the wonder of books. Read more

They Fought for Freedom series. Book Review: Review by Jay Heale - 6 July 2009 - The Billion Dollar Soccer Ball
The first point to make is that Michael Williams knows how to tell a damn good story with strong action and realistic characters. Hang that story on a desperate journey from today's Zimbabwe through often unfriendly South Africa, and add in an epileptic brother and plenty of xenophobia - and the soccer ball stuffed with Zim dollars. Finally reaching Cape Town, our hero earns a place in the Street Soccer World Cup, though even in that there are troubled loyalties. A convincing, exciting story.
