From 3rd to 6th August, Maskew Miller Longman hosted an exciting Professional Development Programme for teachers in the Western Cape. The programme was offered in conjunction with the Pearson Foundation, which is the charitable arm of Maskew Miller Longman's parent company, Pearson Education. A total of 100 excited educators from selected schools in Central, South and East education districts descended on the Cape Town Teacher's Centre in Claremont, Cape Town, at noon on the 3rd of August. Three workshop programmes were offered:
The four-day training event ran well with lots of interaction and positive engagement. Each participant was introduced to fresh approaches to presenting information in the classroom through hands-on, effective and practical applications. They were also offered valuable opportunities to share their own ideas about successful techniques and best practices. When asked to provide comments on the workshop and the facilitator, the overwhelming majority had only positive feedback. |

"The workshop was fun and exciting. It wasn't just another workshop where you sit and listen and practically fall asleep. It was really great." "The facilitator was fantastic, she captured "the teacher" perfectly, everything that we do, which was quite funny. She made everything easy to understand, the games and stories were enjoyable and there were enough resources for everyone." |
| The highlight of the event was the diploma ceremony, held on the final day, where teachers were acknowledged for their participation.
Maskew Miller Longman is delighted that the four days of training was such a success and that educators felt that they could take away new knowledge and skills that they could use in the classrooms. Maskew Miller Longman will be hosting similar PDP workshops in KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and Gauteng in the next few months. |
